PEI, Prince Edward Island, is Canada's smallest and most unique province.
Located in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence, the island was discovered
by Jacques Cartier in 1534 and named Ile St. Jean by Samuel de Champlain
in 1603. In 1798 it was renamed after Edward, Duke of Kent.
Prince Edward Island has become famous for many things (golf, sandy
beaches, tuna charters, deep sea fishing, lobsters, potatoes, Anne of
Green Gables) and is a popular vacation destination and tourist resort.
